Moi Education’s Tutoring
Personalised study plan
Students supported by Moi Education come from all different grades, levels, and have different future paths.
We provide one-to-one tutoring, so we create a personalised study plan for each student to help them achieve their goals.
International schools and boarding schools may follow the same curriculum (GCSE/IGCSE, A-level, IB, etc.) but the progress and scope of teaching varies slightly from school to school.
For those taking English lessons, the content of the lessons will vary depending on whether the aim of improving English is to study abroad, to prepare for exams such as IELTS or Eiken, or to learn English conversation.
If you are aiming to enter an overseas university, the examination methods and measures will vary depending on whether you are applying from an overseas or international school or from a Japanese high school.
For these reasons we recommend private tutoring instead of group tutoring.
Teaching methods
Our main teaching method is online lessons, as one of our strengths is that our tutors come from top universities all over the world.
At present, face-to-face tuition is also available for some courses in central Tokyo area only, mainly for younger children of primary school age and below. Please see below for information on eligible courses.

Features of online tutoring
Tutors from top UK universities
Our tutors are currently studying at, or graduated from world’s top universities, such as Imperial College London. They have completed the curriculum themselves and have experienced the actual examination process, so you can rest assured that you are in good hands.
When you have a university student tutor on a private contract, you will eventually have to find a replacement because he/she will have to stop teaching after graduation. We all know that finding a good tutor can be a challenge.
You will never face this problem with Moi Education, as we have excellent tutors in house all the time.
Personalised lessons
Because it is one-to-one tutoring, the lesson design is tailor-made to meet the student’s goals.
For families studying or planning to study abroad, apart from the tutors in charge of the classes, consultants who are familiar with the international curriculum provide career guidance and support for study from a long-term perspective. Overseas examination systems are very different from those in Japan and require long-term planning that takes into account the student’s progression to university.
One consultant will follow the student from start to finish, receiving reports on study progress from the tutor and helping the student to achieve what they really want to do.
Bilingual tutors
Our tutors are bilingual (Japanese/English), so even those with limited English skills can receive quality tuition.
Also, if you do not plan to study abroad but would like to learn English from a tutor with overseas experience, please feel free to contact us.
Online makes things possible
Online makes it possible to take lessons wherever you are in the world. Whether you are studying abroad or living in Japan, you can take lessons with tutors from world’s top universities.

For example, Oxford University’s Physics Department entry requirements state that students must have taken Maths (Mathematics) and Physics (Physics). It also states that you need to obtain an A* (the top grade) in either subject (information as of June 2024).
Q. How do I choose my IB subjects?
As with A-levels, the elective subjects are determined by the course you choose at university. Although it is an elective system, you choose one subject from each of the six categories.
